Elkem expands its award-winning silicone portfolio with enhanced AMSil and AMSil Silbione ranges, featuring improved shelf life and medical application potential.
Elkem has announced its latest breakthrough in silicone solutions for additive manufacturing and 3D printing, set to be unveiled at Formnext 2024 in Frankfurt, Germany, from November 19-22. The company continues to build on its success following the R&D 100 award-winning AMSil and AMSil Silbione brands.
The expanded portfolio introduces the innovative AMSil 20503 and AMSil Silbione 24503 range, complementing their existing AMSil 20501/AMSil Silbione 24501 and AMSil 20502 food-grade solutions. These new formulations boast extended shelf life for enhanced handling and lay the groundwork for future applications in both restricted and unrestricted medical fields. The range offers Shore A hardness variations from ShA 10 to ShA 70, maintaining the signature properties of 100% silicones for LDM-based systems.
Additionally, Elkem is launching the AMSil 92102, a new water-soluble support material with enhanced printability and surface characteristics. This paste-like material is fully compatible with the AMSil and AMSil Silbione range, enabling advanced design freedom in additive manufacturing processes.
This project is a clear expression of Elkem commitment for greener and more sustainable. By scaling additive manufacturing to industrial levels through digital manufacturing, the company aims to create innovative and profitable solutions while reducing waste, transportation, and storage costs, ultimately decreasing the carbon footprint of end products.
