You are currently viewing Bambu Lab Hints at Larger 3D Printer with Surprising Features for 2024

Bambu Lab has officially announced that they’re developing a larger 3D printer, set to be released in 2024. This news follows months of speculation. Huaiyu “Sprite” Liu, co-founder of Bambu Lab, shared some details about the new printer with 360techinsights at the recent Rapid + TCT conference.

“Everyone is asking for a bigger printer, so we did it” Liu told. But, even then, size isn’t everything, as he continued: “We know people have a higher expectation, so we will not only make it bigger, we want it to bring more innovation in our second version.”
This isn’t the first time Bambu Lab has hinted at a larger printer. CEO Dr. Ye Tao mentioned it in a 2023 interview, and the company fielded numerous questions about a potential Prusa XL competitor during an April Reddit AMA.

According to Liu, designs for the new printer have been finalized, and it’s currently in the testing phase. “Testing is a long and tedious process,” he explained. We need to make sure all the features and the performance are reliable, sustainable, and easy to fix.

While details are still under wraps, Liu did confirm that the new printer will feature an enclosed frame. However, he remained tight-lipped about the system’s kinematics.

Whatever form the final product takes, it’s likely to maintain Bambu Lab’s focus on accessibility. Liu emphasized the company’s goal to “make 3D printers more accessible the general public,” noting that even their current X1C model still presents some obstacles for newcomers.

As we wait for more details on the bigger printer, BambuLab continues to innovate. Liu hinted at ongoing MakerWorld’s MakerLab experiments, with new AI-driven tools in development to help users create their own models.

With Bambu Lab’s track record of shaking up the 3D printing market, all eyes will be on their next move as we head into 2024.
