Creality’s K1 SE: A budget-friendly, high-speed 3D printer retaining key features of the K1C, minus enclosure, at $200 less.

Creality is set to release the K1 SE, a new open-frame 3D printer that shares core features with its popular K1C model but comes at a more affordable price point. The K1 SE, slated for launch later this month, essentially offers the K1C experience without the enclosure and some premium features, at a $200 lower price tag.

The K1 SE maintains the impressive 220 x 220 x 250 mm build volume of its enclosed counterpart, as well as the claimed top speeds of 600 mm/s and acceleration of 20,000 mm/s². It also utilizes the same extruder design, featuring a side spring and ball plunger to prevent clogs, along with a tri-metal nozzle for enhanced performance.

However, cost-saving measures are evident in the SE’s design. The printer forgoes the full enclosure, opting instead for a metal die-cast frame. Cooling has been simplified, with a single “dynamically balanced” fan replacing the K1C’s three-fan system. The built-in AI-enabled camera found in the K1C is also absent from this new model.

Despite these omissions, the K1 SE still boasts several advanced features. Users can expect input shaping, auto Z offset, and auto leveling capabilities thanks to an auto-calibration function.

Priced at $359, compared to the K1C’s $559 MSRP, the K1 SE is positioned as an attractive option for budget-conscious makers and hobbyists. While orders are not yet open, interested buyers can sign up for availability notifications on Creality’s website, where full specifications are also available for those keen on a detailed comparison between the K1 SE and K1C models.

The launch of the K1 SE demonstrates Creality’s effort to broaden its product range, offering a high-speed CoreXY printer at a more accessible price point without sacrificing core performance features.
