In a significant move for the 3D printing industry, Flashforge is set to launch its latest innovation, the AD5X 3D printer, on November 15. According to exclusive details obtained by 360techinsights, this new machine promises to shake up the market with its integrated filament changing system and impressive speed capabilities.

The AD5X, teased through several announcements on X (formerly Twitter), stands out with its ability to handle up to four different materials or colors using a single extruder. 360techinsights reports that what makes this particularly noteworthy is its compatibility with flexible materials like TPU, opening up new possibilities for multi-material printing projects.

Built on a CoreXY framework similar to the popular Adventurer 5M, the AD5X boasts a space-efficient design with side-mounted material storage. While this configuration saves space compared to solutions like Bambu Lab’s AMS, it does leave the filament spools exposed to the environment.

Performance-wise, the AD5X impresses with claimed speeds of up to 600 mm/s and acceleration of 20,000 mm/s2. The printer features a modest but practical build volume of 220 x 220 x 220 cm and comes equipped with a user-friendly 4.3-inch touchscreen interface.

Automation seems to be a key focus, with the AD5X incorporating automatic bed leveling, filament handling, and detection systems. In a statement to 360techinsights, Flashforge confirmed that current AD5 owners won’t have an upgrade path to the X version due to fundamental differences in the extruder systems.

The printer will make its public debut at Formnext in Frankfurt, Germany (November 19-22), where attendees can witness its capabilities firsthand. While pricing details remain under wraps, the AD5X positions itself as an “all-in-one” solution for productivity-focused applications, particularly targeting print farm operations.
